100 years of ABAB
ABAB is proudly celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. A century in which we have been of significance, not only to our customers, but also to colleagues and the world around us.
This milestone is not just a celebration: it is an ode to everyone who has contributed to the company's history. We not only look back, but also look to the future with anticipation. ABAB's 100th anniversary therefore reflects both its rich legacy and all the opportunities that still lie ahead. 2024 will be the year in which ABAB toasts the next 100 years.
From national beginnings to broad spectrum
It's 1924. At Spoorlaan 350 in Tilburg, large wooden desks are neatly arranged, littered with stacks of paper. The sound of rattling typewriters fills the air, mixed with the ringing of telephones. ABAB was born as 'the accounting office of the North Brabant Christian Farmers' Union’. Now, a century later, we have broadened our focus to include multiple sectors, including construction, high-tech manufacturing, e-commerce and logistics. With a range of services, ABAB provides clients with advice in various areas, such as tax and legal advice, accountancy, corporate finance, audit & assurance, payroll administration, HR services and advice on international business.
Together we celebrate 100 years of ABAB
We organise various events in honour of the 100th anniversary. A highlight is the ABAB reunion, which also heralds the start of a ABAB alumni association. In the summer we invite customers to an inspiring Summer Festival. Our employees are also actively committed to various charities during a dedicated week.
An ABAB forest
To give tangible substance to our Brabant roots, we will plant our own corporate forest in the Brabant Groene Woud in February 2024. This fits in with ABAB's sustainability policy, but is also a symbolic marker of the growth we have experienced. That is why there will be a tree in the ABAB forest for every (new) employee.
Into the future
With a view to the future, we are currently exploring a merger with Alfa Accountants & Adviseurs. Ronald Meijers, CEO of ABAB, explains: “Just like ABAB, Alfa attaches great importance to being meaningful to all its stakeholders and being close to customers and employees. We share the belief that an organisation must combine psychological and financial ownership to be successful in the long term, hence: employee participation. Employee Equity instead of Private Equity. A potential merger offers our customers and our people various advantages, such as deeper knowledge and more innovative power. Moreover, it enables both our organisations to jointly invest in further digitisation of an increasingly extensive portfolio of services and to invest in sustainability in all its facets.”
